Good morning!
Dear All
Gremlins in the system for the past couple of weeks has meant an IT rethink so hopefully it's full steam ahead from here...
Well the Ten To Follow teams have certainly provided variable results. Team 2 has proved disappointing thus far and languishes somewhere in the 16 thousands......understandable really has the selection contains alternatives aiming for the same races and they can't all win can they?
Team 1 has however has provided 7 winners thus far including this weekend's Group 1 triumvirate of Roderic O'Connor and Misty For Me (in Irish Guineas') and the imperious Goldikova in the Prix D'Ispahan at Longchamp. A climb to 393rd takes me to within earshot of the leaders though Misty For Me will have to win again and Casamento winning the Derby would be an enormous boost to chances.
Massive punting weekend - bank fuelled especially by the 44 taken on Betfair about Paul Midgley's Dazeen who was running all over his opponents and looked booked for victory a long way out provided Culhane could weave through. Haven't prepared any meaningful statistics but Culhane on a last time out Midgley winner especially if deep down in the handicap looks a profitable angle; returned 16/1 in conventional betting; hugely different on Betfair though I accept mine was a straight win wager not an each way punt!
Also backed both Guineas winners at good prices and was successful on another good combination of Murtagh and Lyons (Future Generation at The Curragh).
Today's qualifiers are:
Motivado in the 15:10 at Ripon - Prescott inmate. Word of caution. Sanders stays down south for one ride on another Prescott runner, El Djebena (16:00 Lingfield) - maybe a tip in itself! Donahoe did ride Motivado the last time it appeared in October.
Hecton Lad in the 17:00 Lingfield. Back on the All-Weather after disappointing under Dettori at Yarmouth recently when, I suspect, expected. Top jockey is George Baker. Confident selection.

The Tote Ten To Follow...
Dear All
I selected two teams only and submitted these, as usual, less than one hour before entries closed. I always try to select 6 three year old's and 4 older horses (though one isn't this time!). Last year, I finished 8th (only one entry submitted) and might have won had I selected Canford Cliffs. I'm sure those that finished above me have a similar regret so it is what it is!
With 6 Guineas', 3 Derby's and 3 more Oaks' early season, I have picked plenty of classic standard before the substitutions kick in so here we go...
In both selections are: Canford Cliffs (my aforesaid Achilles Heel though I nearly put Athlete's Foot in a moment of madness!): Carlton House: Casamento: Havant: Planteur: Roderic O'Connor: Workforce:
Add to these in selection 1 - Frankel: Goldikova: Misty For Me:
Add to these in selection 2 - Moonlight Cloud: Pathfork: Seville:
With veritable hindsight I should have perhaps chosen Frankel in both but was trying to gain an edge should he have been beaten today. Probably a mistake.
Anyway, good start with two Group 1 winners today - Frankel producing an extraordinary performance on the Rowley Mile and Planteur winning the Prix Ganay at Longchamp.
I will keep you informed throughout the season.

My Golden Rules....
Dear all...
... in truth everyone's golden rules....
1. A betting bank is a must with a points system probably based upon 20 bets of 1 point each or 40 of 0.5 points each.
2. Value is essential - the bet must be at odds greater than the true chance of the selection. Identifying value comes with betting experience. Always learning! Suggest that you assume a sub-rule; say no shorter than 2/1 or 5/1 in handicaps.
3. Don't expect any horse to do something it hasn't done before; so avoid maidens and hype! Missing a winner is better than backing a loser!
4. Read as many experts views as you can. Accumulate knowledge about horses preferences, trainer preferences and jockey bookings, gallops reports; how to read form, understand RP ratings, speed ratings etc. Read every word written by Nick Mordin. (Genius!)
5. Have as many bookmaker accounts as you can; take advantage of free bets, best odds guaranteed concessions, non runner no bet and other concessions.
6. Learn how to use Betfair effectively - back and lay!
7. Use GG.com Alerts to track eyecatchers plus jockey bookings and trainer entries...
8. Don't be loyal to a jockey, trainer or horse unless you haver identified a profitable angle...
9. I prefer to back horses that won or were placed 2nd last time out and especially those to have won their last two starts. In form horses win most races...
10. Be disciplined and stick to your rules...
Not too many original ideas there I know but essentially these apply to us all with one or two tweaks here and there...

Milan - again!
Good morning. Back so soon.
I am fascinated by the pricing up by the bookmakers of Rio Milan. From the relatively unheralded, but intelligent yard of AW Carroll this one is another beautifully bred son of stout stayer of Milan out of a Be My Native mare. On debut, is not an atypical Carroll profile horse but one or two have bucked the trend recently.
My interest is especially stimulated by having seen Darlan (another son of Milan) win impressively, on debut, at Haydock on Saturday.
There is a Henderson hotpot running here also; an Alan King entry and a Lucy Wadham contender with some semblance of form. I backed Rio Milan at 11s this morning and laid off at the same time to small stakes.
